On Saturday night the Club held the Sean O'Mahony's awards night in Clarkes Bar, the main purpose of the evening was the medal presentation to our successful Junior team who won the Division 5 league. The Johnny Bowden cup was once again lifted aloft to rapturous applause on the night, by joint captains Eoin Hanratty and Robbie Clarke, before Medals were presented to the successful players by their winning manager Anto Mackin. There was also a special award presented by Club chairman Pat O’Brien, for “Services over and above the Call of duty to Sean O’Mahony’s” to Davie Dowling, Kevin Quinn, Paul Murray, Brendan Nordon and Gerard McCormac, all who have had to dust down the boots over the last couple of seasons, when the our Junior team needed extra numbers, an award which may also have been a not so subtle retirement presentation for all bar the evergreen long serving club treasurer Mr Quinn.
The two big awards on the night seemed to be unanimously approved off by their cheering teammates, well done to Ciaran Jamison on winning Player of the Year for our second team and Robbie Galligan for our first team, both who had outstanding seasons. Well done to all recipients on the night, everyone who helped out Anto Mackin with organising the awards night and once again the brilliant staff of Clarkes bar.
The Sean O'Mahony's Juvenile section is holding a table quiz in Clarkes bar on Friday the 4th of March at 8.30pm in aid of equipment for our underage players, new goal posts, balls and so on. Teams of 4 is €40. First prize €200. Please contact Paul Murray on 0876038566 or Eamon Doyle on 0862679163 to book in a team.
